Fluency is a speaking coach, so it processes your voice. This page explains in plain words what we collect, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and how you stay in control.
The Fluency AI app and website are operated by FluencyAI (“Fluency”, “we”). For any privacy question, write to support@fluencyai.app.
Account details: email, name if you give it, the language you are learning, your level and app settings.
Voice and text: what you say or type in a conversation, the transcript, and the corrections and explanations produced for it.
Learning data: minutes spoken, recurring mistakes, word bank entries, streak days and progress, so the next session can build on the last.
Orders: for exam guides, Selar handles the payment and sends us the order details we need (email, product, amount, country and partner code). We never see your full card number.
Subscriptions and top-ups: plan, top-ups and purchase history. Billing is handled by the App Store, Google Play or our payment provider.
Device and usage: app version, device type, crash reports and basic analytics events, such as a correction being shown.
Waitlist and forms: the email, language and any message you send us.
Partner links: if you arrive through a partner link, we store that partner's code for 30 days to credit their referral. Partners we pay also give us payout and tax details.
To run the coaching: hearing you, replying, correcting and remembering what to practise next (to perform our contract with you).
To deliver and support purchases, and to pay partners (contract; legitimate interest).
To keep the service safe and working: preventing abuse, protecting usage limits and fixing errors (legitimate interest; legal obligations).
To improve Fluency: only with aggregated or de-identified data, or with your explicit opt-in for using your conversations to improve our models (consent; off by default).
To email you about your account, and about launch news if you joined the waitlist (consent; you can unsubscribe at any time).
Your audio is sent to our speech providers to turn it into text, then deleted within 24 hours. Transcripts stay in your conversation history until you delete them.
Fluency does not use your recordings to identify you and does not create a voiceprint.
Conversations are processed by third-party AI and speech providers acting on our instructions. Under our agreements they may not use your data to train their own models.
We share data only with: service providers that help us run Fluency (hosting, AI and speech, email, analytics, customer support); Selar and payment providers for purchases; partners, limited to confirmed order counts and amounts tied to their code, never your name or email; and authorities when the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
This website uses only the cookies and storage it needs to work, such as remembering your currency and your partner code. If we add analytics or marketing tools, we will ask first where the law requires it, and list them here.
Conversation history: until you delete it, or 24 months after your last activity. Learning memory: until you clear it or delete your account. Order and payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically 7 years. Waitlist emails: until launch plus 12 months, or until you unsubscribe. Support emails: 24 months.
In the app you can delete any conversation, clear your coach's memory, download your data and delete your account (Settings → Privacy and memory).
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to, delete and port your data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to support@fluencyai.app; we reply within 30 days. We will not treat you worse for using these rights.
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and monitoring to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Some of our providers process data outside your country. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Fluency is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age. If you think a child has signed up, tell us and we will delete the account.
Fluency uses AI to produce replies, corrections and level suggestions. These help you practise; they are not decisions that have legal effects on you.
Selar, the App Store, Google Play and other sites we link to have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for them.
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Questions or complaints: support@fluencyai.app.
